As many of you know we are starting monthly card swap groups. Each group will be hosted by one of our amazing staff and is FREE! The basic idea is:

1. You sign up for a group
2. Come each month on swap day with 1 card you created for each member of your group and tell them how you did it
3. Swap cards with everyone in your group
4. And make the card created by your staff member, EASY!!

Today ...we are featuring Charlene's class - a daytime group -- meeting the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 11am. Check out the first project she has for all of you!

I am working on a picture of John and Joey from hockey and I am getting pretty excited about the outcome. It feels really good to take 45 minutes to myself and create.

Lots of new stuff!!

Well Marget said I could order a few things....so for the record I ordered a few things and alittle bit more :)

We received so much new product this week:

*The new "72 and Sunny" line from We R Memory Keepers
*4 new lines from Reminisce {Easter, Teen, Graduation, Camping}
*4 new lines from TPC {Easter, Undersea Adventure, Birthday Celebration, Girlfriends}

And we got in 72 colors of Copic Markers!!!! Judy is very excited about this :)

We also received Tote bags for the Cricut expression and they are polka-dotted and very cute, one already found a new home last night :)

And to round things off we received some fun new stamps from Stampendous...Charlene's new favorite **Changito** He is the cute Monkey stamp everyone loves. Stampendous came out with some new cling sets that are a great bargain! We also have in the small pails from Stampendous that make great little Easter containers....very fun.

I was able to work hard last night to make sure everything is out and ready so stop by to see all the new pretty product!

One of our long time favorite people was in the store this morning and curious about the new self-adhesive glitter paper. So we started to play...and play and play! This stuff is amazing! It will go through every die cut machine and it even works great with punches! We used the purple glitter paper with the Fiskars floral border punch and Fantastic!! So, not only does it cut great but I am NOT covered in glitter, it's not on my hands and it's definitely not sticking to my die!!

So the Basic Grey product arrived this past week and you get a ton of stuff with your kit, plenty of paper and embellishments left over to create another page and/or cards. The POTM (page of the month) group gets started the last week of March and there are still a few seats left, so get registered this week

PS Every month is using the latest product release from BG so you won't get ugly product from three years ago, this is the latest and greatest from one of the most popular companies in the industry. Yummy New Product from Silhouette!

It is fair to say that it was easier to make the shirts with the heat transfer paper than to get the boys to sit for the picture!

This was so easy and so fun. I just used my silhouette to create my text and image, cut it out and ironed it on.

This new heat transfer paper comes in lots of great colors and flat or flocked. I chose the flocked, of course and the shirts are adorable (even on the first try). The possibilities are endless, you can use the heat transfer on any fabric project, including quilts, home decor (monogram pillows) personalized hats, baby gifts, shirts for kids, my head is spinning with fun project ideas !

Stay tuned and watch for my next project that Jen and I are working on with the rhinestone kit!! Can everyone say BLING!!

My Pictures are Saved!!!

So, I have been talking to my husband/tech guy about my paralyzing fear of losing my pics that are store on the computer. I started researching an external hard drive, on-line back up companies and I have found the solution. The Picture Keeper is a USB drive that automatically backs up my pictures every time I plug it in. It also allows me to take the drive to CVS or Meijer to print pics for some instant gratification.

OK, so we can choose to be irritated by the snow day or take advantage of some great photo opportunities with the kid-lets. Granted I am not going to throw the babies out there, but I am going to sneak out back and get some great shots of Joey and the posse building a snow fort or sledding. Happy New Year! I love New Years, it is definitely one of my favorite holidays, all of the hope and excitement for the future. So many of us are setting goals and making resolutions to make 2010 a fabulous year. I am going to start 2010 with a "State of our Family" layout using the January page map. This is my way of creating a starting point in my scrapbook. I have loved looking back at these pages and seen how much my family changed and with the addition of our twin boys, I can't wait to get to work.

Holiday Portraits at Scrapbookers Inc

If you haven't already heard, our friends at Masserman Photography will be in the store taking holiday portraits this year. We got our family done this past week and although the twins didn't cooperate as a pair, the pics of them individually are so amazing and my little man Joey, always does a great job.

We will be taking appointments for sessions in November and we have lots of great props for you to choose from or feel free to bring your own. All of the details are available on our website or you can call the store.

Exciting New Class Offering!

If you can answer "yes" to any of the following questions, we have a new class that is probably for you:

Do you see things in our store that are interesting but you're not sure how to use them/ what to do with them?
Do you have a basement full of leftover supplies you can't seem to find a use for?
Have you ever seen something in our store that you're not sure why anyone would ever want to use it but then you come to like it after you see it used on a cute project?

If you can answer yes, join Francie for "Outside the Box Supplies/Techniques" . Every other month we will choose a different supply and make 1 card, 1 two page layout, and 1 tag using a selected supply and learn several techniques to use with the selected supply. This month we will be using chipboard. Come and learn 10 different techniques to use chipboard which will allow you to go home and put some of your leftovers to use on new projects. In addition, you will make a little surprise thank you project for attending, and will be given several additional project ideas with supply lists that you can complete on your own. Expect to stretch your supplies more and leave a little more creative. This course was designed to serve you better by responding to our most popular customer requests. Please feel free to request topics for future classes. We will continue to respond to the needs of customers who give us this valuable feedback.

"Outside the Box Supplies/Techniques" will be offered on November 1 and 11 with December dates to be announced. The projects we will make are on display in the store and a photo will be posted on our website.

What a Great Class

So we had our first digital photography class on Wednesday and it was great! First, Jerry from Masserman Photography is a great teacher and he is really knowledgeable about photography. We all learned something new about our cameras (rapid fire, flourescent lighting and ISO) and it has already make a difference in my pictures. I am so excited for the follow-up classes that are coming!!!!

If you are at all interested in learning more about your camera this class was worth every penny and you can call the store to get on the list for a call when we set the date for our next Digital Photography Basics Class.

My Page Map ... as promised!!!

I am willing to admit that this page did take a week to complete, but it is done and I am pretty excited with the outcome. I used the Rockin' America paper from Rusty Pickle with the coordinating cardstock stickers. When I looked at it, the fireworks paper was screaming for glitter so I used my metal tip and added the seashell glitter to accent the big fireworks. I also used a navy blue ink pad to distress the edges of my paper and the mats for my pictures.

I do realize that this is not a great picture, but the page is on display in the store and I hope to inspire just one other person to get their page done. Stay tuned for next weeks page and map.

Well the big event is here!! This Friday and Saturday we will be celebrating Amuse-a-palooza!

On Friday July 10th, we will be debuting all the new Amuse winter and Christmas stamps and feature a free make and take for the first 50 customers.

On Saturday July 11th we will be offering a mini-card class starting at 10am. There will be 8-10 cards to choose from for just $2 each. We will also be offering a free make and take and 30% off all holiday paper, stickers and embellishments.

Hello, Jennifer here! I hope you all are enjoying this warm start to summer. I know its hot, but we need this after that LONG cold winter :)

Most of the time I can see the potential beyond the obvious in the craft product/tools we get in here at the store. Sometimes though I either don't want to or just cannot understand why. That goes for embossing templates. Yes, I did think they were interesting when we got them in but I just didn't get excited about them until I saw this:

This being a sample card our resident card maker extraordinaire Francie made for display. I LOVE it. She used one of the embossing folders from Quickutz. Who knew??? Well, alot of people I guess but if you are like me sometimes it takes a swat to the back of the head to see how cool something is. It is great to see products used in different and cool ways. Has this ever happened to you?? If so leave a comment here and let us know the product you dismissed until you got a "swat" to the head ;) We will draw a name for a prize and announce it here on the blog next week.

Hello everyone Jennifer here- Well school is officially out and I have turned in my "parent" card for the title of "referee" for my two older kids....ahhh good times :) I am looking forward to playing in the back yard, visiting the pool and hanging out with family over the summer. One of our favorite places to go is my brother-in-laws house for the 4th of July. They live on a lake and they have a boat parade each year for the 4th. Very fun. The new paper collection we got in from Reminisce is perfect for all the fun pictures we will capture during the 4th of July holiday. Make sure you check out this great new paper line.

Teacher/Dad and Grad Project of the Week

OK, so I promised great gift ideas for teachers, dads and grads and here is the first one.
This one is, of course, for Joey's teacher but can easily be modified for dads and grads.

To get started you will need: The Bare Elements Ferdie Clip, 1 patterned paper, 2 coordinating cardstocks, acrylic paint dauber, PPA or Modge Podge, a brayer, ribbon, and letters.

Start by painting your clip and letting the paint dry, making sure to paint around the corners for better coverage.
I wanted to see some of the blue so I cut my patterned paper about 1-9/16 by 9 1/4
I used PPA (perfect paper adhesive) as my adhesive and as a lacquer finish. To get my paper nice and flat I also used a brayer to get out all of the air and create a well finished look.
I used blossom Quickutz to cut out the word "notes" in yellow
for the "Mrs." nameplate, cut chipboard 1 1/2 by 3 inches and cover both sides with cardstock, sand the edges and distress with ink. I cut "Mrs." in the other color of cardstock and adhered with PPA
Lastly cut the name out of cardstock and use PPA to adhere.
When you are completely finished you can add a sealing coat of PPA to your project to ensure that no corners pop up and you project can be enjoyed for a long time to come.
Lastly I added ribbon to the "Mrs." nameplate.

I am actually pretty excited about my project and even more excited that I have one of my teacher gifts done!!!

With all the negative news out there I know I am always looking for ways to bring a little fun into my week, if you are in the same boat then I have great news for you! National Scrapbook Day is almost here and we are celebrating BIG this Friday May 1st and Saturday May 2nd.

Friday- We have a crop party from 4pm to Midnight with dinner, snacks and fun prizes. At 6pm with will have the new Quickutz Gift Set Release and all are welcome.

My ATC Projects

Ok, so here is the start of my project for the year. I am a big journaler, I love getting the story down and it is really hard to rememer the story when I don't have time to scrapbook as much as I would like....so here is my solution to getting the important stuff down while it is still fresh in my head.

The first page of each month will be the calendar and for January I used little snowflake buttons to highlight the important dates. Then I will create a one or two page layout for each highlighted event.

For example the two pages (without pictures) are Happy New Year and Snow. I am going to put our first family picture of 2009 and a picture of Joey sledding and write about how much snow we got this year. This might sound a little cheesy or sappy, but I love the little stuff, that is what makes life and raising a family so special. Stay tuned I will post the rest of January next week.

Paper paper everywhere!

Hello, Jennifer here! Well we are talking about organization this month. That is always a challenge for us scrapbookers/crafters. I know that most of us have the best intentions to buy only the paper we need for our projects/pages, but if you are anything like me you can never pass up a pretty piece of paper. The buying of the paper keeps on and on and now, like me, you are an avid paper collector. So you are faced with the challenge of how to organize all that pretty paper. The system I use is the vertical paper storage from Cropper Hopper (pictured below)

I have 4 sets of the vertical storage. I organize my all my cardstock in one, by color. In the other two I have separated my papers by boy and girl themes. In my 4th storage unit I have categories like holidays paper, Halloween paper, 4th of July and back to school, etc. I also have one accordion paper file that I keep my "collections" paper in (ie Basic Grey or Cosmo Cricket). If I have paper sets that have specific embellishments that I bought to go along I use the paper pouches from Cropper Hopper to keep it all together, these also fit into the vertical units.

There is no one way that is right for everyone, but the cropper hopper system is fast and really easy to get set up. I am very visual and need to see (or be reminded) what I have so I avoid buying duplicates and so I remember to use all the cute paper I just could not live without :) The cropper hopper system really allows me to easily see all my paper at one glance. This system works for me now but keep in mind that your organizational needs will keep changing and you may have to re-evaluate every so often. I mean who knew two years ago we would need containers to hold chipboard?? So be flexible and do what works for you and if you are stuck and don't know where to start our staff would love to help you out! Hope to see you in the store soon.

Getin' Organized and Inspired

This is the mess that I made to get organized. I grabbed all of my piles of pictures and a pad of post-it notes and just started sorting. And within a few hours they were all in the pockets and in the boxes chronologically. I also spent the afternoon loading my prints onto KodakGallery.com. This way my digital pictures are safe on their network.

Now I am looking to organize all of my paper, stay tuned and check back later this week to see what I have come up with.

Ok, we all know that the second most important thing in crafting, after finding time. of course, is being organized. If I do find some time to work on a project, I certainly don't want to waste my time getting organized. So for the next few week we (the staff) are going to get organized and we are dragging all of you along with us. Each week we will share tips and tricks to get organized and we will run sales and promotions on our favorite products to keep us crafting.
This week I focused on getting all of my prints and digital pictures organized. I got several of the cropper hopper photo totes a good movie and just started organizing my print by month and year. It took me about 2 hours and I am done!!!! Some months have a folder of their own, others are shared and the totes came with great lables and the plastic boxes.
All of my digital prints are now loaded, by month, onto a website where they will also archive the files for me. No more worries about a crash.

OK...so if you read our e-mails you know that I am good at the big picture stuff for the holidays and it is the little loose ends that get to me. I try making lists and just have a hard time deciding where to start, I start working on a project and am distracted by all the shiny things along the way. I am going to use all of you to help me stay on track by blogging about at least one project I am finishing each day and I am happy to report that I completed 7 sets of monogram notecards last night. Each set has 4 cards and now my CA family is done. I did the cards while catching up on my DVRed shows and was able to kill two birds with one stone, now I am moving on to the clock for Maria. Check back tomorrow for the update.
